William Gale is the Arjay and Frances Miller chair in federal economic policy at the Brookings Institution, co-director of the Tax Policy Center, and director of the Retirement Security Project.
Previously, Gale served as vice president of the Brookings Institution and director of its economic studies program.
Gale’s research focuses on saving behavior, pensions, tax, fiscal policy, and financial literacy products. He has published numerous articles, reports, and briefs for the academic community, policymakers, and general audiences. Gale earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
