Sylvester Schieber

Sylvester Schieber, is a private consultant on retirement and health issues.  He was vice president and U.S. director of benefit consulting and director of research and information at Watson Wyatt Worldwide.  Schieber chaired the Social Security Advisory Board, and was the first research director of the Employee Benefits Research Institute in Washington, DC.

Schieber is the author of numerous journal articles, policy papers, and books, including Retirement Income Opportunities in an Aging America: Coverage and Benefit Entitlement; Social Security: Perspectives on Preserving the System; and The Real Deal: The History and Future of Social Security.

Schieber earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Notre Dame.
